Wow Again… A Sunshine Award!!!

I’ve am so lucky, someone has enjoyed my blog and nominated me for a Sunshine Award, hence the Walking on Sunshine YouTube clip (once again showing my age, but who care)…

First step:

Thank my lovely bestower: Thanks Step On A Crack (Jen), You have been very kind about my efforts on this blog, which is nice as I’ve enjoyed doing the blogs! It’s a very recent outlet for me, only kicked off with the prompting of ButImBeautiful. But Jen, your blog is moving to me because of my own mother’s battle with dementia, but her’s is not alcohol related, so you got a double whammy. But regardless of this, your blog is positive and uplifting, so thanks for the award, appreciated!!!

Second Step:

Yes, you get to share some silly facts or things about yourself…

Favorite Color: Green (camouflage, cause I’m a soldier)

Favorite Animal: (Just about everything, except for nasty snakes and slimy things)

Favorite Number: (No.1 because I only care about me… Well not really, but I actually don’t have a favourite number)

Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: (I’m a soldier, there is no such thing, ok again, must be honest, banana smoothie, made by a street vendor in Luang Prabang in Laos, using an electric blender on the end of the

banana smoothie Luang Prabang style

longest extension cord I have ever seen, which was held together with gaff tape mostly, but regardless the smoothie was magnificent)

Facebook or Twitter: (Facebook=Yes, but I can’t disclose it) (Twitter=Capt.SavageOZ)

My Passion: (Obviously all things military, but I’m not a violent man however. I also love my children, history, and a good laugh)

Favorite pattern: (Ok, thanks Bump and Jen for the suggestions, yes camouflage should be my favourite pattern as I love to blend in and not be noticed, until I strike…)

Favorite day of the week: (Friday, because it leads to the weekend)

Favorite Flower: (Rose, yep ButImBeautiful, it’s my favourite…)

Now I must say I thanks to the following blogs for their inspiration (especially Rose) and for reminding me of some good times!

I am DELIGHTED to pass the Sunshine Award on to the following Blogs:

http://sweettravelblog.com/travels/category/laos – Wow, this blog is full of inspiration (and memories for me of Asia)

http://chezmoiblog.wordpress.com/tag/luang-prabang/ – More memories, and a great picture of a Lao style Smoothie

http://travelingmbas.tumblr.com/ – Three MBA’s on an around the world trip (they also were suckered in by the dreaded Laotian Smoothie

http://overlandsal.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/riding-and-washing-elephants.html – A great travel tale

Of Course I have to include here…

ButImBeautiful – because she is (beautiful) and an inspiration and, well the list is too long, and stop complaining, yes I know it’s yet another award, and you probably already have this one… But tough, you are wonderful, and you deserve it…

StepOnACrack – who is way too kind and has a blog full of inspiration, thanks again for appreciating my efforts, encouragement is always appreciated. 🙂

The Sunshine Award (Last but not Least)

2 Versatile Blogger Awards (for the Capt.) (Correction)

A Bump To The Head and StepOnACrack, both of whom are recent followers of my blog have very kindly nominated me for a very unnecessary (but appreciated) award – thank you to you both (Sorry Jen I have been getting a few posts and missed your nomination) !!! Now I really appreciate this coming from A Bump To The Head, as this particular blogger, as I have myself been following her blog, and enjoying many of her posts… She was herself nominated for this award, and well deserved. The only thing about her that I don’t understand is that she recently visited my homeland (Australia) from hers, the shaky isles (New Zealand) and went back without visiting the magnificence of Canberra… Shame on you…

While StepOnACrack on the other hand (Jen) has been very kind about my blog posts, and has some understanding of my world (Alzheimer’s and military madness). But Jen, I have an admission to make, maybe Capt. Savage is partially an invention (named after a Marvel Comics character).  But the blogger (me) is an actual Army Officer (but a reservist), who wants to hang onto his anonymity.

Now apparently the Rules for this award are:

1. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers (here is a start, 10 more to go).

My apologies, but being a very recent blogger, suckered in by my very good friend ButImBeautiful (and she is beautiful by the way), I really don’t know 15 blogs that well yet, but here are some that have touched me, made me laugh, or that I’ve learnt something from… And I also apologise (note Australian spelling) to those of you who are already flowing in awards (i.e. you already have this award), you don’t have to accept it, just accept the fact that I appreciate your blogging efforts.

ABumpToTheHead, her posts are eclectic, interesting, positive, and always full of good photos (even if she missed Canberra).

ButImBeautiful, what more can I say, the world through the eyes of Rose and her big toe, a multi-award winning, soon to be successful writer. Plus she is great fun, a flirty tease (look out for her in a low-cut top), a lover of animals, and a true friend.

StepOnACrack, a lovely person with a great attitude, and has made some very encouraging comments on my blog. But her blog is uplifting and I look forward to her posts.

TheBackgroundStory, I picked this site up from ButImBeautiful, and it has some lovely pictures with meaningful messages.

IamNotShe, a site that I picked up early, and who has also a very positive attitude to life.

2. Inform the bloggers of their nomination. Partial Tick! (I still need to get 10 more bloggers!!!)

3. Share 7 random things about yourself. Tick!

Ok, here is some tidbits about Capt. Savage, ABumpToTheHead!

  • My family came to Australia from England around 1880’s, 8 brothers and their families left England on boats. There actually were 12 children in the family, but only 8 journeyed to Australia, but only 1 made it to Sydney (the rest of the brothers are? well somewhere else obviously).
  • My father was an alcoholic, and I continually remind myself not to follow in his footsteps.
  • I am not actually a Capt. (not yet anyway), I am a Lieutenant (I turned the promotion when it was offered).
  • My great-grandmother (on my Mum’s side) ran a brothel at a place called Sally’s Flat near the gold mining area of Hill End in NSW, Australia. Her husband ran off with one of the prostitutes (and most of her money) to New Zealand.
  • I have the world’s worst memory for names.
  • My family is full of twins, my first cousin has twins, my ex-wife has twin sisters, I have twin sons, and I am a surviving twin.
  • I can be a bit shy (for a trained killer), and anyone who knows me well will realise (Australian spelling) I’m the last person who will ask you for a dance (and never if you are a guy). Which is strange (the shyness) as generally people have trouble shutting me up, and I just love public speaking and bossing people around.

4. Give thanks to the blogger who nominated me. Thanks ABumpToTheHead! appreciated! Tick!

5. Add the “Versatile Blogger Award” logo to your blog post. Tick!
